They have arrived for the pivotal Davis Cup Group I match against Pakistan, which is set to occur at the Sports Complex Grass Court on February 3-4.
The All-Indian Tennis Association (AITA) exerted strong efforts to revoke Pakistan’s privilege of hosting the event.
At first, they lodged an appeal with the Davis Cup Committee and subsequently approached the Chair of the Independent Tribunal, requesting a transfer of the match to a neutral location.
The AITA’s appeals proved to be in vain as they were unable to achieve their desired outcome. Consequently, the team found themselves faced with a dilemma, having to decide between fulfilling their commitment to travel to Pakistan for the match or facing potential penalties from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) by forfeiting the tie.
Despite the possibility of facing penalties and the risk of being demoted, the Indian team ultimately made the decision to journey to Pakistan, arriving in the capital city on Sunday evening, albeit later than anticipated.
