The Political Landscape Shifts: Maryam Nawaz Steps Down From NA-119 Maryam Nawaz, a prominent figure within the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the soon-to-be chief minister of Punjab, has made the decision to step down from her position as a representative in the National Assembly for the NA-119 constituency.
The nomination and subsequent acceptance of the position of chief minister of Punjab by her led to this decision, signifying a major milestone in the political scene of the province.
Maryam Nawaz has officially announced her decision to step down from her position in NA-119 Lahore III. During the recent general elections on February 8, Maryam Nawaz won the seat by obtaining 83,855 votes, defeating the PTI-supported candidate Shehzad Farooq, who received 68,376 votes.
Additional candidates vying for the position encompassed Muhammad Zaheer from Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan and Iftikhar Shahid from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Additionally, Maryam Nawaz secured a win in the PP-159 constituency of the Punjab Assembly in Lahore, opting to keep this seat to potentially become the chief minister of Punjab. She clinched victory in a tight race with 23,598 votes, leaving her rival, PTI-supported independent candidate Maher Sharafat, trailing behind.
