Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, the Federal Ombudsman, has acknowledged the grievances regarding irregularities, malpractices, excessive delays, and inadequate services at the Passport Offices for the public. In response, he has directed immediate action to be taken on Thursday.

The official further instructed the teams to investigate these complaints in order to implement immediate corrective actions.

It should be noted that in response to numerous complaints regarding the delay in passport issuance, an Inspection Team from the WMS had previously visited the Passport Office Islamabad as per the instructions of the Wafaqi Mohtasib. The purpose of their visit was to investigate the reasons behind the delay and the breakdown of efficient delivery services at the office.

The Wafaqi Mohtasib criticized the Compliance Report provided by the Passport Office, deeming it unsatisfactory and devoid of substance. Consequently, this prompted a subsequent inspection.

The Wafaqi Mohtasib has further emphasized that the Overseas Pakistanis faced the greatest hardships throughout this entire incident. In numerous instances, either their visas expired or they were unable to commence their employment overseas due to this prevailing situation.

He mentioned that the situation is similar for individuals looking to travel abroad for purposes such as furthering their education or visiting family.

The official emphasized the importance of identifying and addressing the individuals responsible for causing artificial shortages, engaging in malpractices, and committing other irregularities. It is crucial to take strict actions against them in order to ensure the smooth functioning of the Passport Offices.

It should be emphasized that numerous complaints have been made regarding the delays in passport issuance, as the country’s economic situation is prompting a growing number of individuals to consider relocating.
