What You Need To Know About Intelligence Bureau’s Promotion ISLAMABAD – The caretaker government has implemented a notable change in policy by promoting the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to the rank of Division.

The elevation of the Director General (DG) of IB to also serve as the division secretary has been authorized. This decision was officially announced by the Cabinet Division and received approval from Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar. Any required modifications to the Rules of Business, 1973, will be promptly implemented in accordance with the notification.

The promotion to the status of “division” allows the IB head to participate in cabinet meetings as an ex-officio member, a privilege that was not given when it functioned solely as a bureau.

It is recommended that transfers and postings of IB officials continue to be carried out via office orders, even after the change in status.
