The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued a notification declaring a public holiday on February 8, 2024. This decision has been made in accordance with the powers granted under Article 218 of the Constitution, along with Section (4) and 8(c) of the Elections Act, 2017 (Act No. XXXIII of 2017), and other relevant powers. The purpose of this holiday is to provide the voters with the opportunity to freely and conveniently exercise their right to vote. This announcement has been made by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The declaration of a nationwide holiday has been made, as a nation with a population of 241 million is preparing to cast their votes in the civilian parliament for the third consecutive time.

The Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stated in the notification that a significant number of individuals will have the opportunity to exercise their voting rights as a result of the public holid.
