What You Need to Know About the Official Public Holiday for General Elections in Pakistan.The upcoming General Elections have prompted the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to announce a nationwide public holiday on February 8th, 2024.

The Election Commission has issued an official notification today, declaring a nationwide public holiday to ensure that voters have sufficient time to engage in the electoral process.

Furthermore, prior to this declaration, the Provincial Cabinet of Punjab had already implemented proactive measures by prolonging the vacation period for all educational establishments within the province.

All educational institutions, including public and private schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab, will observe a closure from February 6th to February 9th.

The extended holiday period effectively covers a six-day hiatus, considering the temporary closure of educational institutions from February 5th to February 9th.

Kashmir Day, which falls on February 5th, is observed as a public holiday, whereas February 4th, which happens to be a Sunday, is traditionally considered a non-working day.

The significance of cultivating a favorable atmosphere for democratic engagement is highlighted by the joint endeavors of the Election Commission and the Provincial Cabinet of Punjab.
